Insane (Hardwell Remix)
Dark Monks & Hardwell
Dance music titan Hardwell leans into his record collection to remix one of his all-time favourite tracks into a modern-day mainstage techno anthem. Applying a thunderous reinterpretation of Dark Monks' legendary 'Insane', the Dutch figurehead has crafted a dancefloor weapon full of pounding rhythms and hypnotic synth-scapes.
With Dark Monks' iconic single now some 20 years old, Hardwell wanted to rework the track to fit his signature mainstage sound whilst paying home to the euphoric melodies of the original. Retaining the recognisable sample utilised in James Reynolds, Jan Carbon's original, and with a chopped-up vocal structure, Hardwell's injects a gutsy dose of driving basslines and industrial-strength kicks. Designed for his forthcoming peak-time festival sets, the 'Insane' remix balances dark, brooding textures with Hardwell's own brand of explosive drops. This 2025 version of 'Insane' is raw, powerful, and relentless, undeniably lifting this timeless anthem into uncharted territory.
1990s electronic duo Jan Carbon and James Reynolds make up Dark Monks. Having both been involved in various other dance projects within the UK dance scene, the pair combined on Dark Monks with their debut 'Insane' via Incentive Records. Featuring a sample of Moby's dance-pop classic 'Go' from his 1992 self-titled album and vocals from newcomer Mim, the single would catapult them into the consciousness of clubbers in the UK and aboard.
Celebrated for hit singles and remixes for artists like David Guetta, Calvin Harris, and Coldplay. Hardwell's transition to Big Room Techno marked a pivotal chapter in his career, highlighted by the release of his second studio album, REBELS NEVER DIE. Singles like 'XTC', '16', 'The Abyss', 'Move', 'Acid', No Sleep' and most recently 'Cambodia' further cemented his reputation, alongside headline performances at the biggest festivals. With his sights firmly set on 2025, Hardwell will be present at the biggest stages this year playing at Ultra Music Festival, A Summer Story, AURA Festival, Electric Love Festival, Airbeat One Festival, Parookaville, Medusa Festival, and Tomorrowland.
